Description

The first evidence of the existence of the church of San Gottardo Mura dates back to 1319. Inside is preserved an interesting seventeenth-century painting attributed to Francesco Frigimelica depicting San Gottardo beside San Floriano interceding with the Virgin Mary and the baby Jesus in the clouds and the angels and invoke protection on pets, also represented in the background.

Apse on the trained eye can recognize the hand of the painter Egidio Dall'Oglio, undisputed star of sacred local. The fresco represents the group of the Eternal Father, Christ with the cross and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove; all beautifully lit by natural light that enters through a side window and a festive procession of musical angels in the clouds. Even on the ceiling the Gotthard that rises to the sky is certainly the work of Egidio Dall'Oglio, given the similarities of the work with the shovel of Follina and the frescoes in the church Archpriest of Cison.

In particular, according to the art historian G. Mies, the little leg of stucco angel emerging from the frame is one of the recognizable features of the hand of the famous painter.
