Bosco delle Penne Mozze

Description

Opened on October 8, 1972, Woods of "Penne Mozze" is situated in a panoramic position of Alps Treviso Cison of Valmarino. You can reach it easily passed the village of the country.

It is a memorial surrounded by nature, which covers an area of over 16,000 square meters of land, created by prof. Mario Altarui to "remember with a plant and a stele all fallen alpine born in the province of Treviso."
That dream has become reality thanks to the enthusiasm and determination of the Alpine Group of Cison di Valmarino and to those who together have invested time and energy to build it.
On the ground, bought in 1972 and extended several times, were planted plants, tracked the paths for the Gold Medals Alpine Trevigiane, and especially made, by the maestro Simon Benetton over 2000 steles in memory of the fallen.

Even today along these paths, in the gloom of the forest and accompanied by the sound of the nearby stream, transmits to the visitor of emotions difficult to describe.
The stele positioned between the trees well make the image of the human sacrifice of our soldiers and at the same time the pride and sense of homeland of those who, with love and dedication, he wanted to keep alive the memory of that sacrifice.

At the beginning of the trail, in Piazzale entrance graced badges of the six Divisions Alpine; to the right of the three pens off shotgun, a symbol of the memorial, there are the "feet" of the monument Alpine Brunico blasted with dynamite act by secessionists in South Tyrol.
Along the way there is also the "Madonna of Penne Mozze" and numerous monuments and memorials gift from other Associations of Arms, to prove their genuine solidarity with the Alpine Corps. Moreover, since 2001, on a monumental stele depicting a tree symbolically, Bosco began to host the license plates of other alpine sections of Italy, so as to become a place of memory not only of the Alpine Trevigiani, but those of the whole country .

Almost forty years after his birth, therefore, to this day, the Forest of Penne Mozze lives, is enriched with new elements thanks to the strong sense of ownership of the Alpine and the determination of these people want to make the right tribute to those who gave life for the homeland.
