La chiesetta di San Martino a CastelBrando

Description

At the castle is located the church dedicated to St. Martin.

The first evidence of the existence of the chapel is located in a document of 1224: she was given a tennis Gabriele from Camino. From the castle comes a bell dated 1439 and stamped with the emblem of the braid Gattamelata, now preserved in the Villa Brandolini in the country, probably belonged to the little chapel.

The current building replaced the oldest in the eighteenth century by the architect Scotti, the same who created the part of the eighteenth-century castle. Inside are frescoes by Egidio Dall'Oglio, including his self-portrait seems to be apparent in the shape of an austere character in the guise of some member of the brotherhood.

On the outside walls of the chapel are walled tombstones of Lippa Alidosi, wife of Count Brandolini IV, first Earl of Valmareno, Antonio Maria Brandolini - buyer enlargement century castle, and the bas-relief of Brandolino III, knight-at-arms , who died in 1396, coming from Bagnacavallo in Emilia Romagna, Earl of Zumelle.
